April 25: Good news

Hi ho! It’s the last week of April already…what the heck??

We’ve had a swell week here at the Patch. April is a sweet time to enjoy the sun before it grows more and more intense as the summer rolls in. We started the week off well with some good news of finally getting our water figured out. Since then, we’ve dealt with some minor drama with irrigation, one or two Ol’ Faithful moments, but that’s just a day in the life of a farm!

We are invigorated as we start to work and use the new configuration of the farm; the proximity of our nursery, tool shed, wash station and additional fridge has been ideal.

The layout has also inspired Carlos to continue adding and shaping the farm with some additional plantings of aromatics such as lavender, a fresh new planting of rosemary and a couple of rows of table grapes (see photo to the left)! Some purple varieties we have are coronation and concord and, for a green variety, himrod. What is your favourite snack grape variety?

Spinach and green onions!

Thank you to everyone we saw at the market last week! It was great to return and see familiar faces once more. If you missed us, we’re there tomorrow 8am-1pm with the same fresh produce! We are back to the same spot as last year, stall #44 in Zone 3 on Dickson Ave which is— more good news—next to our good pals at Little Schack!

Can you find our handy-dandy little logo to find us at the market?

We’ll have the regular fare: a herb salad of the week, hefty spinach, green onions, radishes, chives, sorrel, some rhubarb and, of course, all the classic preserves.

Come say hi and tell us some good news happening in YOUR life!

Cheers,

-OKHP Crew
